The St. Anthony Society for the Preservation of Sacred Music and Art hosted a very successful Pipe Organ Kick-off Dinner on May 13, 2008 at Hugh’s Culinary, 4351 NE 12th Terrace, Oakland Park, FL, 33334 (Phone 954-563-4844).

Over 100 parishioners attended this gourmet extravaganza which raised over $200,000 in contributions and pledges for the purchase and renovation of the pipe organ.

Dinner guests heard several presentations during the evening. Dan Hardin, PhD of the FIU Music Department and Dean of the Ft. Lauderdale Guild of American Organists discussed the increasing popularity of “real” organ music vs. digital sound. Father Singleton added that bringing a historic Skinner instrument to our historic church with its superb acoustical environment would be a match made in heaven.

Our guests also viewed a video of the Skinner Pipe Organ itself, and participated in a silent auction to benefit our cause.
